Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

I was concerned drinking the 2012 might be a bit premature but this was a beautiful wine. Fresh and lively but well integrated. Rich, dark fruit on the nose and palate. Silky mouthfeel. Fine tannins and and a beautiful long finish. Paired with Aged Gouda, Robiolo Pineta and Piave cheeses. Tasted December 2017.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Sheer delight and elegance in the glass of this award winning Italian red yielding a silky smooth wine in typical Amarone style. Masi's unrivaled expertise in the Appassimento technique is used to give the grapes a long period of longer ripening on bamboo racks coupled with an aging period for the wine of at least three years in the finest wood casks. This wine is a traditional blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara and a subtle addition of Oseleta (a grape variety discovered by Masi) - a most pleasing nose and palate of ripe dark fruit, tobacco, chocolate, licorice and coffee. Wonderfully balanced and complex. Tasted November 2017.
Wineboy rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Very modern Amarone with loads of ripe, overripe black fruit. Unusually oaky for Amarone. with smoke and tobacco aromas easily matching the fruit.
From the Veneto wine region, Masi Costasera Riserva (2012) is a full-bodied Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico with rich black fruit, black cherry, dried fruit, spice cake, cigar box and smoky flavours on the palate. Really lovely and drinking so well now. Pair with prime rib or dark chocolate. - Community Wine Reviews
