Luscious and rich with layers of orchard fruit flavour. Terrific balance in this classic Californian Chardonnay, with green apple and toasted almond aromas. Nice acidity and a mouth-filling richness on the mid-palate. Pair with roast turkey.

Chardonnay food pairings: steamed mussels, lemon-herbed chicken, pan-fried trout.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Pale lemon colour with the glistening reflections. Aromas of pink grapefruit, lemon, green caramel apple and banana. Flavours are sublime: yellow apple, pear and hints of soft wood spice with white pepper on the finish. An oily mouthfeel with medium acidity, medium minus body and finish. Delightfully and deliciously decadent. Pair with extra creamy soft cheese, butter poached lobster and scallops.

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

On the nose, this bright Chardonnay has caramelized pineapple, white peach, mineral notes, sweet spice, and rich nutty aromas. It is crisp with vibrant acidity and has a certain opulence on the palate. In terms of flavours, we have ripe peach, lemon, lime, and honey, as well as a long nutty almond finish. Overall, a very nice product.

Tasted November 2017
Far Niente (2015) is a classic Napa Valley Chardonnay with the classic sticker price. Nicole Marchesi is the winemaker for this Chardonnay with grapes sourced from the Coombsville -- a cool-climate AVA moderated by fogs that roll in from the San Pablo Bay, and on average can be as much as ten degrees cooler than surrounding areas. This 2015 vintage is rich and complex with ripe melon, guava, passionfruit, citrus and light oak notes on the palate. the wine rested on its lees and was matured in previous-use French oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
