Natalie's Score: 88/100

Very, very coffee, espresso and mocha from the nose to the finish. You'll adore and abhor this style, but you need to try it at least once. Pinotage made in the coffee style has become a cult favourite. This isn't sweet but it beats coffee spiked with anything and has lower alcohol when compared to Bailey's etc. Pair with coffee-rubbed meats.

Pinotage food pairings: coffee-rubbed steak or pork.

Reviews and Ratings

Gwen Barton rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A true expression of South African Pinotage. Easily found aromas of coffee, mocha and smoky spice. Some rich fruit and more chocolate on the palate. Good companion to spicy wings or pesto dishes. No aging required.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

I did a blind taste of this one, not knowing the name of the wine. I neither got chocolate nor coffee on the nose or palette. For me, I got a peppery and smokey on the nose and the palette was spicy and reminded me of chorizo or italian sausage. I'd pair with a meat lover's pizza and an arugula salad. Personally, I didn't care for it. I'd serve this wine after the good bottles had been served. If I received it as a gift, I would not try it again and instead would pass it on to someone who would appreciate its uniqueness.
