Dark chocolate and sweet black fleshy plums on the nose with a pleasant zing of acidity mid-palate for lots of dishes from tangy meat sauces to grilled meats. More black fruit and mouth-filling roundness. A consistently good producer at fair prices for the quality. Highly recommended. This Australian red wine is a regional blend of Shiraz grapes of about two-thirds Clare Valley and one-third McLaren Vale regions. The wine was partially cold-soaked for 4 days, then aged in 100% new American oak barrels for 11 months. Deeply concentrated and flavoured.

Shiraz food pairings: juicy, grilled rare sirloin steak, hard cheese like Cheddar or Havarti.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lovey complex nose of berries and spice/oak. The fruit more than matches the oak on the palate. A kiss of sweetness through the long finish. More power of flavours than expected for the price.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Shows plum, raspberry, spice aromas, then the palate bursts into spicy raspberry/plum flames. Dry with good acidity. A super match for barbequed ribs.

Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

If you want to taste a wine that has won Gold at many competitions - this is the one! Mondus, New Zealand International Wine Show, Berlin International Wine Competition - just to name a few. I tasted it at a blind tasting and it definitely stood out. Dark cherry with purplish hue - almost opaque. Lots on the nose; cinnamon, baking spice, nutmeg, pepper, black cherry and blackberries. The flavours also resonate; ripe cherry, pepper and dark chocolate. A full bodied (almost 15% alcohol) complex wine that is a great value for the price. This would pair beautifully with anything from the bbq; ribs, sausages, steak - is your mouth watering yet? Tasted March 28, 2018
Simon Chen rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

I love the perfumy nose but the wine is too jammy and high alcohol for me.
