Peppery red berry fruit and a supple smooth texture. Medium to almost full-bodied. A lovely, balanced example of the Appassimento style that concentrates flavours but doesn't make the wine heavy. Very savoury. This robust Italian red wine takes its name -- Arele -- from the wooden trays that were traditionally used to dry the grapes, or a portion of them, to make Appassimento wine. The 2014 vintage has intense dark red fruit and polished tannins. Pair with grilled meats.

Food pairings: cheese pizza, veal, beef, tagliatelle alla Bolognese (pasta), chicken herb-rubbed roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Yummy medium-bodied red from the Veneto region. Lots of dark fruit on the nose which carries onto the palate. Fine tannins and nicely balanced. This apassimento style uses dried corvina and oseleta grapes, bringing out baking spice, dried prunes and just a lovely overall drinking experience.
Terry Jeans - Certified S rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This has some stewed field berries, smoke, cocao, coffee, cedar notes, with a full-body. There is some nice acidity and grippy tannins, with a long finish. Very tasty for the price.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas include smoke, cedar, coffee, and some dried ripe fruit. Medium + body, nice acidity to balance fruit and tannin. Nice long finish. Try with a nice Bolognese pasta sauce.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Cherry and smoky nose, smooth with medium to full tannins.
Arele Parziale Appassimento 2014 is a medium-plus bodied red wine blend of Corvina -- one of Italy's most traditional grapes and Oseleta, a rare and old world variety Italian red wine grape. "Arele" is the local name for the traditional wooden trays employed to partially dry a portion of the grapes for making Appassimento style wine prior to pressing. - Community Wine Reviews
