Château Saint Nabor 2017

Côtes Du Rhone, Rhône A.C., France

Melanie scored this wine: 90/100

Fabulous medium-bodied white from the Rhone Valley that's great with food or just on its own. Green apple, zippy lemon, pear, subtle minerality and a hint of flowers with a lingering peach note on the finish, not to mention a refreshing acidity to balance everything out. Not too many of these left so grab this one from the LCBO while you can!

William Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Melanie scored this wine: 90/100

Great duck wine! Not in-your-face fruity like other Cali cab sauvs. Nicely integrated tannin, good acidity, and beautiful black cherry, plum, caramel and cocoa flavours. Excellent hostess gift! A crowd pleaser for sure. Tasted July 2017.

Underwood Pinot Noir 2015

Oregon, United States

Melanie scored this wine: 90/100

This is a delicious offering from Oregon! And quite popular, as evidenced by the limited quantities remaining following its recent Vintages release. Its light-bodied texture, mouthwatering acidity and fresh red fruit flavours make this an incredibly food-friendly wine, perfect for any dish from short ribs to salmon. Add a hint of smoke and baking spice to the mix and you'e got a winning combination and the perfect hostess gift. Get the whole story at: http://winingwithmel.com/2017/04/30/oregon-pinot-noirs/

Alpha Box & Dice Kit & Kaboodle 2014

Langhorne Creek, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia

Melanie scored this wine: 88/100

Ruby red verging on garnet, with gorgeous aromas of black cherry, vanilla, violet, baking spice and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied with bright, mouthwatering acidity. This is a very drinkable wine and despute being made with Italian grapes (montepulciano and barbera), is clearly all Australia.

Le Cirque Grenache Noir Syrah Carignan 2013

Vin De Pays Des Côtes Catalanes, Midi I.G.P., France

Melanie scored this wine: 90/100

Beautiful blend of grenache, syrah and carignan from the southwestern tip of France bordering Spain, a region sandwiched between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. This geographical situation makes its mark on the wine with aromas of the garrigue soil (minerality and herbs) and salinity from the sea. Dark berries are the immediate flavour on the palate, with licorice making an appearance on the finish. This wine has great acidity, making for a very food-friendly wine. I enjoyed it with a Hungarian pork stew served with spaetzle. Drink soon (tasted May 2017). www.winingwithmel.com

Memorable Wine

My family owns a vineyard in Provence that supplies that grapes for Chateau Simone. Whenever I drink that wine I am instantly transported to summer, surrounded by olive trees, with a view of Mont Ste-Victoire.
