A viscous, almost full-bodied Niagara Pinot Grigio with surprisingly high alcohol at 14.4% though the wine is balanced. Aromas of white peach and Asian pear. Racy acidity for seafood.

Pinot Grigio food pairings: Bacon-Wrapped Grilled Scallops or Caramelized Onion Tart with a Rich Pastry Crust.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Beautiful! Aromas of pear, honeysuckle, lemon pith and pineapple. Medium to full bodied, with a luscious mouthfeel. Quite tropical on the palate, with bright acidity and a lengthy finish. Enjoy with deep fried calamari.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Think of a light Italian Pinot Grigio that has become the Hulk! This is not your typical wine. Bigger and bolder in everything; light golden hue, darker than most and a 14.4% alcohol level gives it a much fuller body than you normally get.

At first pour the alcohol comes at you but once it settles in the glass there are generous aromas of pear, peach and lemon. Flavours of ripe apple and nectarine with a voluptuous mouthfeel. This is a wine that can stand up to some substantial food when pairing. Think roast chicken or baked salmon topped with cranberry stuffing.

I think this wine needs some time to settle. I would be interested in tasting it again next year. Tasted July 26 2018.
Gwen Barton rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A fuller-bodied Pinot Grigio. Strewn's first attempt at this varietal. Fairly high alcohol initially masks some of the aromas, but opens up nicely with a bit of time. Overall well balanced with nice acidity. Green apple, lemon, honey and floral aromas and flavours. Pair with bacon wrapped scallops. Tasted: July 2017
A first for Strewn! Produced from fruit harvested on October 25 and November 2, 2017 from two Niagara-on-the-Lake vineyards at 21.6 Bx. Fermented in stainless steel and sterile filtered before bottling mid-June. NOTE: the wine may still be coming out of bottle shock.
