The 2012 vintage was a strong one for Tuscany and it shows in the glass. Full-bodied and savoury with juicy, mouth-watering aromas and flavours of dark red berries and spice. Pair with tangy tomato sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A delicious extra-dry Chianti Classico from Italy's esteemed Ruffino winery. Lots of tart cherry, subtly interwoven baking spice and mouth-watering acidity that makes this so food-friendly. Always a hit!
Tasted Oct. 2016

Well balanced, full of flavour, perfect with pasta and red meat dishes.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Tasted in 2021. This 2012 vintage is mature, with lots of life and vibrancy still. Aromas of dried and tart cherry notes, with a hint of dried herbs, earth and smoke. Medum+ bodied with bright acidity still, along with lovely fruit showing a hint of tartness and also some dried fruit notes. Hints of earth and black tea on the finish. Enjoy this vintage for another 2-3 years.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A wonderful classic Chianti Classico, reserve with typicity. Tart cherry, spice, savoury herb. Medium bodied, well balanced, supple fruit, silky tannins, wonderful acidity. Pairs well with typical Tuscan treasures. @jonsteeves rated 89/100 - tasted Oct 2016
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 83/100 with the following review:

A good wine from an exceptional region…
Presentation: Classic, understated label, with a distinctive colouring
Appearance: Clear, medium intensity, garnet colour
Nose: Clean, light-medium nose, with blackberry, leather, meat, herbaceous, and wet stone notes
Taste: Dry, medium body, medium acidity, and medium tannins. Predominant flavours included sour cherries, earth, meat, and wet stone
Finish: Medium finish with earthy notes
Overall impression: A good offering. Pretty much what you would expect at this price point.
Value: 3.5/5
