Gorgeous aromas of earth and black fruit on the nose of this robust Italian red wine made from 100% Sangiovese grapes. Lots of layers and complexity on the palate. Very versatile with food, from grilled meats to pasta. High Recommended.

Reviews and Ratings

Courtney Flood rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

More open and fruit forward than the 2006 that we tried next to this wine. Juicy cherry, dried fig, mint, and graphite. Ready to drink right now and not too intimidating, but also has potential to last in your cellar for at least 5 years.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Ruffino's 2008 Greppone Mazzi Brunello di Montalcino, shows notes of sweet tobacco, plum, black cherry, fig, and espresso. Full bodied and well structured, the palate is complex and approachable, indicating it's in that ideal drinking window now despite it's relatively young age for a Brunello. A fantastic holiday gifting option for that wine lover in your life that appreciates fine Italian wines. Enjoy 2015-2020 with roast leg of lamb with rosemary, Tuscan-style steak, or Tuscan sausages and beans. Tasted October 2015. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Donna Hargrove rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A rich, full bodied, ruby coloured wine, this 100% Sangiovese Italian red has notes of plum and cherry. Earthy aromas include tobacco and spice. A perfect gift for that special wine-lover in your life. Drink now or let it improve in your cellar for the next year or two. Would pair deliciously with red or wild meats. Tasted October 18, 2015.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Full-bodied with red and black fruit and hints of raisin, fig and black pepper. This medium ruby coloured Brunello is full-bodied and crafted using 100% Sangiovese. Leather and tobacco on the long finish. Tannins are youthful and there's good fruit to acid ratio. Decanting will let you enjoy this wine today with finer cuts of beef or roasted rack of lamb but time in the cellar will reward you over the next 5(+) years. Great gift suggestion.
Tasted: October 2015
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A very full red wine with meaty aromas or tobacco, cedar, dried red fruits, graphite, plums, and cassis. A lush mouth feel with rounded tannins and flavours of plums and cassis, with a long, smooth plum finish.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A dynamo red! This wine starts out with pronounced smoke and earthy notes and later opens up with a lovely dried fruit (figs), baking spice and tea-like aromas. The flavours are more dried fruit dominant. This wine is overpowered by high tannins, yet balanced with acidy and has tremendous potential for aging. Keep it in the cellar for at least another two years minimum - I am certain the tannins will still be chewy though.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby, with the nose showing red berry fruit and spice along with floral and mineral notes. Fresh and juicy on the palate with cherry/berry fruit, spice and herb notes on a long finish. Medium bodied, and well structured, this will reward several more years in the cellar and should drink well over the next 10 years.
Tasted Oct 2015 at Ruffino wine tasting dinner.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Opulent and full-bodied with firm tannins, ripe cherry, plum, sage and black pepper. Finish is long on fruit with hints of dark chocolate. This age-worthy wine will be available to add to your collection at the LCBO on November 14, 2015. Tasted Oct. 18, 2015 - Ruffino dinner.
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas of red fruit, spice and some cedar earthiness. The palate offered the same along with a minearlity that hinted at pencil lead. Finish highlighted the red fruit flavor. Full bodied with firm tannins. Tasted Oct 2015 at Ruffino wine tasting dinner.
Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Alex: A fresh, lean elegant style, with some candied orange, dried sage, sour cherry liqueur and wet stone aromatics. Rustic and mineral-driven palate, plenty of acidity, with sour red fruit notes, orange rind and herbs. Needs a duck breast a l'orange. 86 pts
