Terrific value for this full-bodied,, but smooth Niagara Merlot. Aromas of dark plums and smoke. Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A velvety Ontario Merlot, perfectly paired with heartier winter meals, such as roasted squash soup or pork roast. Considering 2018 was a tumultuous grape growing year in Ontario, this Merlot ripened quickly before the rainy harvest, making it an unusually fruit forward delight!
Brilliant ruby in hue with aromas of black cherries, vanilla and cedar, with juicy black cherries pulling through on the palate, and a good backbone of tannin and acidity on the finish.
A great value at $13, LCBO, made for stocking up or sharing.
Tasted December 2020.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

An easy drinking Merlot from Peller Family Vineyards. Medium ruby coloured with aromas of cherry, smoke, chocolate and cedar with plummy, marzipan and almond flavours. Essences of red currant and blueberries carry on the tongue with a chocolate covered raisin finish. Tannins are subtle but still offer a chewy backbone on the fruit driven, savoury finish. Medium bodied with nicely balanced acidity. Pair with stuffed portobello mushrooms and steak frites. - Tasted December 2020
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby in colour with aromas of cherry, smoke, cedar and vanilla.  It is full bodied with medium acidity and tannins and has flavours of cherry, plum and baking spice.  This will pair well with grilled red meats, including your next hamburger.  Tasted on July 14, 2021.
