Henry of Pelham does Baco Noir right: this is best of class. Brooding aromas of black and purple plum, blackberries and blueberries wrapped in smoke. Supple and full-bodied. Could this be the ultimate hamburger wine? Well-structured with a solid finish. Try it tonight.
Baco Noir food pairings: blackened, smoked beef dishes, grilled radicchio, hamburgers.

Deep ruby, medium+ intensity aromas and flavours of dark berries, clove, chocolate, wallnut and hint of mint. Full bodied and good mouth-feel, enjoy!

I've tasted many vintages of this wine and it is always a favourite! Arguably the finest expression of Baco Noir available in Canada, and everyone know's that from this storied Ontario winery's impressive track record. A terrific balance of dark fruits, spice, refreshing acidity, soft integrated tannins, and a long delicious finish. A very well crafted wine. Would complement a wide range of BBQ'd dishes. Try the non 'Reserve' version for another great example of an Ontario Baco Noir.

This is one of my favourite Canadian wines, and is really under-appreciated elsewhere. The good news is this means more for us. This wine has a lot to offer; dark rich plum and blackberry, earthiness and vanilla, good acidity and tannins and a touch of mint. Great with deer or moose steak, but a fantastic wine all on its own. I'm very much looking forward to the 2012.

This was a wine I really enjoyed tasting. Blackberry and toasty oak on the nose with black cherry, spice, coffee and vanilla flavors.

I get excited every year at the release of this wine from the vintages. The best Baco Noir from what Ontario has to offer. Considerably complex with dark rich fruit, under-brush, toasted almonds and yet floral and very approachable. Not to be missed if you can get your hands on it. Perfect with a steak or smooth enough to drink solo.
Darlene Myers - CAPS Student rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:
A terrific Baco Noir from a premium Canadian winery. Henry of Pelham makes a full-bodied dark beauty full of rich blueberry compote flavors and lively spice. Very well balanced, and although I had the wine at a tasting, Natalie nailed it when she called it a heavenly hamburger wine.
Jessica Nagy rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:
This is a beautiful, deep ruby wine with aromas of cedar and forest berries. The palate is smooth and velvety with almost non-existent tannins, making it an easy pair with many types of food but game meats such as elk really bring out the robust, rustic flavours of this grape varietal.
Fun fact: Baco noir is a hybrid of a Eurpoean vitis vinifera varietal and a grape indigenous to North America.

Sweet black cherry / cassis / mocha / blueberry / tobacco / leather / cedar / smokey / spicy /full bodied / supple tannins

A terrific example of Ontario Baco Noir. Clear deep ruby red with aromas of cedar, graphite, ripe blueberries and blackberries. The palate shows ripe dark berries, cedar, mint and cloves with a full-bodied mouthfeel.
Wonderful experience with grilled steak or takes hamburgers to a new level!
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:
June 22, 2014: Deep ruby purple, nice nose showing dark berry fruit, toasty oak spice, white pepper and savouy green leaf. Ripe black cherry and plummy fruit with nice oak integration lead the way on a medium full palate with juicy acidity, medium tannins and longish finish. A good match for rib-eye with Montreal steak spice.
The vines for this Baco Noir wine were planted in 1984, have very low yields and then the wine is matured for 18 months in oak. - Winery
