Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A lovely Bordeaux-style white wine made from 78% Sauvignon Blanc (fermented in stainless steel and neutral oak) and 22% Semillon (fermented in neutral oak puncheons). Aromas of lemon, gooseberry, melon and pear, with a note of warm spice. Light-medium bodied with bright, mouthwatering acidity, vibrant citrus and tropical notes, and a bit more of that spicy hint on the finish. Enjoy with fried calamari or other seafood appetizers.
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Medium lemon green coloured, dry, medium bodied, medium plus acidity, , medium alcohol wine with pronounced aromas of lemon, lime, white nectarine, honey, blossom, minerality and pineapple. Palate of lemon zest, minerality, lemon, lime, pineapple and blossom. Excellent with goat cheeses. Wonderful summer wine and patio sipper. A Bordeaux blend heavy on Sauvignon Blanc!
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The Alibi is a blend of 78% Sauvignon Blanc and 22% Semillon. The Semillon grape can take many forms depending on where it's grown. It can be waxy, zesty, rich or creamy. In this case it lends to softening the sharpness of the Sauv. Blanc.

On the nose - gooseberry, citrus and wet stone. Flavours of ripe McIntosh apple, spice and soft white pepper. Light/medium body with medium acidity. This was a great pairing with Gunn's Hill 5 Brothers cheese.

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The Alibi 2020, made by Black Hills Estate Winery, is a sophisticated wine blended from 78% Sauvignon Blanc and 22% Semillon. Harvested in the Okanagan Valley, this modern wine offers aromas of grapefruit, lime, passion fruit, chalk, asparagus, lemon grass and apple blossom. Medium body with a sharp edge, the Alibi is a delicious sipper with a sound finish of peach, lime, saline, ginger and green herbs. Enjoy.
