Viu Manent Single Vineyard San Carlos Malbec 2018, Colchagua Valley, Chile: From the Colchagua Valley, Viu Manent San Carlos 2018 Malbec is produced from a single vineyard which was established more than 100 years ago on the deep and fertile soils. The grapes for this 100% Malbec came from the best sectors of Blocks 5 and 6 at the San Carlos Estate. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and cement eggs, the wine was aged for 16 months with a third in French oak barrels (15% new), 53% in foudre and 10% in concrete eggs. Lovely bright red in the glass, the wine is dry, medium-bodied with bright cherry, plum, blueberry, earthy violets and savoury herb flavours vibrant on the palate.
