Cotnari Grasa De Cotnari 2018, Cotnari, Moldavia D.O.C., Romania: From Romania, Grasa De Cotnari Cotnari 2018 is fragrant with summer florals, dried apricot and sweet with citrus, apricot, nougat and vanilla flavours balanced with bright acidity on the palate. The first archaeological evidence of grapevines and wine in this area was since the Neolithic period, 5,500-2,700 BC. Grasa only has about 450 hectares of total acreage in the world and all of it in Romania. The wine is made in dry and botrytis-affected semi-sweet styles. The vineyards are planted close to the Pacific Ocean in Chile which moderates both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Fog in the morning and the oceanic winds keep the acidity fresh in the grapes. Laurent Miquel Nord Sud Viognier 2019, Pays D'oc, Languedoc I.G.P., France: The Viognier grapes for Laurent Miquel Nord Sud 2019 Viognier were sourced from the Midi region in the south of France. Although Viognier is more associated with the northern Rhône Valley, this version is more floral on the nose with melon, lychee and mineral aromas. Dry with honeyed pear, apple, peachy and vanilla flavours on the palate balanced with fresh acidity on its medium-bodied frame. The wine was matured in oak barrel and stainless-steel tank.
