Not only are Tread Softly wines certified sustainable and bottled in lightweight glass, but they also plant a tree for every case sold. So far, they’ve planted 2.5 million trees, the equivalent of taking 35,000 cars off the road. The silky-smooth Pinot Noir is all about ripe cherries and subtle spice. It has a lingering finish that stays with you long after the last drop. A fascinating fact about Pinot Noir – it's one of the oldest grape varieties in the world, dating back more than 2,000 years. It's also one of the most genetically unstable grapes, which is why you find so many different clones and expressions of it around the world! I'd pair this with a duck breast seared until the skin is crackling crisp, then sliced thin to reveal a perfectly pink interior, served with a cherry reduction sauce that mirrors the wine's fruit notes and wild mushroom risotto that complements its earthy undertones.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Raise a forest with your glass of this Pinot Noir the winery says. They’re referring to their practice of planting a tree for every case they sell of their wines. Pinot Grigio is just one styles wines produced by this Australian company who describes their creations as vegan friendly, sustainable grown, and naturally lighter in alcohol. On the topic of lighter in alcohol, this Pinot Noir is 11.3% ABV, a few percentage points lower than some PGs available in Canada.

This creation shares familiar Pinot Noir flavours but they’re modest in energy rather than BIG and BOLD. There’s red cherry expressions and there’s savoury spiced ones, too. I sensed some rhubarb weaving through them in this silky, light bodied leaning Australian red. Match this with something earthy. Enjoy.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Lovely and bright Pinot Noir, with a nice balance of fruity and earthy hints. Aromas of red cherry and cranberry, with hints of earth and cedar brush. Light to medium bodied with medium+ acidity and just a hint of tannins. Fruit flavours are bright with a touch of woodsy, earthy hints. Enjoy with grilled vegetables and pork tenderloin.
