I Sodi Chianti Classico Riserva is a dry, medium-to-full-bodied blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo from the historic heart of Gaiole in Chianti that pours a classic ruby-garnet and opens with a beautifully layered nose of macerated sour cherry, dried cranberry and sun-dried tomato leaf, woven through with notes of warm clove, iron-flecked earth and a lifted thread of dried violet that is the hallmark of great Sangiovese. The palate is elegantly structured, with firm yet refined tannins, a vibrant Tuscan acidity and a concentrated dark-fruit core framed by restrained French oak, finishing with impressive length and a trailing note of roasted herbs. Serve it at room temperature and drink from now through 2031, as this Riserva has both the fruit and backbone to reward several more years in the cellar. This wine won a 96-point Gold at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards 2025, an outstanding recognition for a family estate of this scale. The winery is run by brothers Giancarlo, Danilo and Franco, whose father Ivo purchased the abandoned estate from the Arezzo Archbishop's administration and released the first vintage in 1978, the farmhouse itself dating to the late 1700s and taking its evocative name from the local dialect word for "hard soil," a reference to the stony, untilled ground on which the estate stands. Try this alongside a slow-simmered wild boar ragu with hand-rolled pappardelle, where the wine's cherry-edged acidity cuts through every rich, meaty bite, or pair it with a classic veal Parmigiana for a deeply satisfying Italian pairing.

Chianti Classico food pairings: grilled steak, spaghetti bolognese, veal parmesan.
