From the Taurasi, Campania wine region, Vinosia Santandrea 2017 is a project undertaken by Mario and Luciano Ercolino, whose family founded Vinosia in 2003. Vinosia roughly translates as "a new place of wine". Dry, juicy and medium-bodied with powerful, structured tannins, this 100% Aglianico was macerated for up to 12 days, with partial fermentation in native yeasts. Malo fermentation was in French oak barrels and the wine was aged in barrel for 14 months. Juicy with aromas of sweet cherry jam, baking spices and vanilla, it is a zesty red with rich blackberry, cherry and spicy notes on the palate. Nice now, better in 2025 when those tannins have had some time to mellow. Enjoy it through 2030 and pour it with a juicy rind-on pork belly Porchetta roast.
