Tinhorn Creek Vineyards Oldfield Series Merlot 2007
Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 5, February 26, September 11 and July 26.
Tinhorn Creek Vineyards Oldfield Series Merlot 2007 Wine Review
Very elegant with long lines of plummy richness and depth. There are enticing notes of tobacco, pepper and cassis in a lovely melange and lengthy finish. 4.6/5 Merlot food pairings: pasta with bolognese sauce, veal stuffed sausage, buffalo burgers, bean dishes.

|The Oldfield Series Merlot was the first wine to be released under the Oldfield|
Series tier. Now in its seventh vintage this wine is must have for Merlot lovers. The
2007 vintage’s blend is 92% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Syrah. The varietals
were fermented separately in stainless steel tanks prior to being moved into oak
barrels. It then spent 18 months in 100% French oak ranging in age from new to two
year old. After barrel aging the wine was blended together prior to bottling. It spent
15 months in bottle before its release.
