Reviews and Ratings

Julia Kelada rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

From the beginning of time, RH Phillips has delivered over and over again. Though as years have progressed and the label has changed, the quality has always stayed stead fast and true.

At a recent tasting, this was the least expensive of all of the wines and yet, as always was my favourite. I call this my go to, catch up on the phone with my girlfriends over seas drink! But don't underestimate her, she is perfect for a meal with friends, classy enough to take to a party and loyal enough to drink all alone! And all of that for $14.00.... amazing huh!
I wo9uld match her with a rib eye steak with a tomato salad and herbed potatoes!

On the nose there is a lot of minerality, black cherries, black currants and plums. Smoky notes of toasted oak.

On the palate there are ripe black Bing cherries, black currants and plums. Herbal notes of thyme and delicate mint present as an undertone. Oak steps forward and intertwines with leather. There is a great presence of espresso beans. The tannins are firm but velvety and release to spice notes of nutmeg and cloves. The finish is smooth and lengthy. Yum!

Bottoms up!
