Natalie's Score: 90/100

A robust red with attractive aromas of dark red and black fruit, smoke and a touch of mint. Smooth on the palate with layers of satisfaction. A terrific wine with hearty meat dishes, such as beef or lamb.

More Wine Reviews and Ratings

Darlene Myers CAPS Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

I have been trying many of the wines from the Penfolds vineyard recently, and I am very impressed. This 2010 Thomas Hyland Shiraz has beautiful flavors of cherries, chocolate and plums. A beautiful combination pairs with toasty oak and vanilla. You should try this Shiraz
The palate is rich but fresh and lively, very even, elegant and structured. Varietal flavours of satsuma plum, red liquorice, fruit and nut chocolate are evident. Rounded tannins support these flavours rather than dominate. Careful oak maturation has added complexity and texture - cedar, vanilla, ground coffee notes. Approachable as a young wine but will reward with further cellaring.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
