Natalie's Score: 92/100

Love this black pepper wonder! Dark fruit, dark spices and lots of personality. Layered and expressive: even though it's full-bodied, it's lively, not heavy. The 2011 is an unjustly overlooked vintage for Cotes du Rhone-Villages Beaumes de Venise Suzon. Terrific value.

More Wine Reviews and Ratings

Louise Wilson ISG Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Offering a rich bouquet of cherries jubilee and black licorice which transitions into mouth filling flavours of raspberry, rhubarb, black pepper and dried sage. Excellent value. Try as an alternative to Paso Robles Syrah or Barossa GSM. Pair with a juicy BBQ T-bone steak. Tasted May 2014.
This wine is a blend of Grenache and Syrah grapes in equal proportions. About 80% of the wine was matured in stainless steel tanks and 20% of the Syrah in oak barrels. The appellation or region in which this wine is made is named after the "Balmes" or caves that overlook the Dentelles de Montmirail. - Winery

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
