Reviews and Ratings

rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This dry red blend from the Napa Valley is a collaboration between Othello Wine Cellars and Christian Moueix of Bordeaux. I cellared it until December 2015 but it could with the level of tannins I believe it could have withstood more time in the cellar. The aromas were an enticing blend of black currant, anise, pepper baking spices, savoury herbs, and dark berries. The wine is medium plus body with leather, anise, bitter chocolate, eucalyptus and clove flavours. Othello is well structured with balanced acidity and tannins. It is dry with leather and anise on the finish and paired well with a prime rib roast.
Beware of jealousy from wine collectors! Forsooth, Christian Moueix’s Othello is only available in two markets in the whole world: Japan and Ontario. Christian Moueix brings Bordeaux style to Napa Valley with this elegant and well-structured meritage blend. The layered nose reveals aromas of cassis, woodsmoke, leather, black olive, anise and mineral. It’s very dry, medium full-bodied with a dense black fruit core surrounded by refined tannins and balanced by ample acidity. This is all about structure and restraint and should easily evolve over the next 5-8 years. Source: Vintages Wine Panel

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
