A succulent, savoury red with aromas of black fruit, smoke and dark spices. Supple and enticing. Terrific price.

Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The 2008 Montes Alpha Carmenère is medium to full bodied with integrated, nicely aromatic red currant, cherry, prune, cedar, green pepper and coconut notes. Tannins are refined (decant for 30 min) and the finish is smooth and long. Despite being good to drink now, this wine should be aged a bit as it will nicely evolve for the next 8-10 years. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts - a recommended buy. Tasted Feb/11.
Starts with typical aromas of olive, herbs, spice and pepper, and there’s berry fruit underneath. The palate is racier and more staunch than the 2007, with cherry, olive, plum and a hint of raisin. Tightly formed, with a lively DNA and a tangy finish touched up by cocoa. Score: 88 Source: Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
