A good grip on the palate with dry and full-bodied layers of black fruit. Savory and chewy. Great with hearty meat dishes. This wine is made in the hills that circle the town of Vinci, where yes Leonardo da Vinci was born.

Chianti food pairings: pasta with tomato sauce and fresh herbs, basil pesto, red wine stew, pizza.

The 2013 Gambero Rosso guide awarded this wine 1 Glass (out of 3). Rich aromas of sour cherry, licorice, plum, leather and earth are accented by touches of toast. The palate is quite ripe and offers superb replays. The sour cherry notes are particularly noteworthy. The tannins, though drying, are not overly firm. Nice structure and balance.
