Tannic and full-bodied with class cabernet aromas of cassis, blackcurrant and blackberry. Surprisingly elegant for a New World cab. Like it lots!

Katnook Estate cabernet is matured for 22 months in both French and American oak – but this 2008 version is far more fruit driven than many of its past releases. It’s a sea of medium-weight blackcurrant. You’d almost call this a ‘Claret style’, though it’s fresher and bolder and indeed fruitier than that. Toast, mulberries, dark olives too. A good tug of tannin. Noticeable persistence. Excellent style of wine. Drink 2014- 2022. Score: 94 Source: Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au
