The Spanish winery of Juan Gil was established in 1916 in the region of Jumilla, known for its red wines made from the Monastrell grape, which is called Mourvèdre in France. This wine is crafted from 100% Monastrell sourced from chalky and rocky limestone soils. Layers of dark fruit, earthy florals, garrigue herbs and savoury spice on the palate. Olé. Pair with a smoked paprika-rubbed grilled steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Big and ripe red cherry and red fruit aromas accented by rose stem and floral hints. Fruity and jammy on the palate replaying those ripe cherry notes while adding a little barrel spice to the palate and finish. Full body clocking in at 15% ABV. Best with red meats, especially rack of lamb or a nice cut of beef, but certainly sippable on its own for lovers of full reds.
from the Jumilla Wine Region, Honoro Vera 2017 is a great value, full-bodied and juicy 100% Monastrell with ripe black and purple plums, blueberry, garrigue herb and savoury spice flavours on the palate. Pair with meaty stews. - Community Wine Reviews
