Reviews and Ratings

Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Too bad I only have one bottle…

Presentation: Simple, clean bottle and label. Appreciated the real cork.
Appearance: Medium, ruby red
Nose: Leather, meat, toffee. There’s a pleasant sweetness, which is not overpowering. I wanted to smell it more than once.
Taste: Mocha, leather, plum, toffee, cedar. The taste evolved as the wine opened. Interesting and multi-dimensional. It would pair well with lamb, roasted chicken, meat-based pasta dishes, and a variety of cheeses. I had it with some dark chocolate, which enticed some smokiness to come out.
Finish: pepper, toffee, alcohol, quite a long finish. It is interesting and I look forward to this finish with every taste.
Overall impression: An interesting wine that evolves over time. It is multi-dimensional. I wish I had another bottle to cellar for a few years. I have long been a fan of Hester Creek wines, and this one confirms why.

Value: 3 out of 5

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
