Heartland Stickleback Red 2009 Wine Review
Natalie's Score: 89/100Incredible price for this quality. Loaded with big black fruit and lots of mouth-watering acidity. Great wine for big meals, especially those involving steak.
Food pairings: steak. Best Beef Wine

Great value wine!
|Ben Glaetzer makes wines for his family brand plus Mitolo in McLaren Vale and the Heartland wines from Langhorne Creek. Stickleback is Heartland’s entry-level red. It’s based on cabernet sauvignon and shiraz with a splash of dolcetto and lagrein. Showing aromas of spicy dark cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry with a whiff of licorice, it’s generously flavoured with fresh, dark-berry fruits and dense, inky characters. Fine-grained tannins keep things in balance, leaving an aftertaste of spice, cloves and dark chocolate. Source: Peter Bourne, Gourmet Traveller Wine|
