Natalie's Score: 90/100

Full-throttle Californian Chardonnay from the heart of Napa Valley. This is such a well-known (and respected) winery. Aromas of toasty oak, pear and smoke. There's no secondary (malolactic) fermentation to preserve the fresh acidity which is nicely balancing. Primary fermentation took place in a combination of stainless steel and French oak barrels to lend creaminess. Only about 15% new French oak, the rest is second use to not add too much oak flavour. Pair with game meats and fowl.

Chardonnay food pairings: scallops with a sesame ginger dressing, beef bourguignon, grilled chicken breast, pasta with tomato sauce, pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A Napa Valley Chard with a light nose of soft tropical notes and light oak. A yummy palate shows tropical passion fruit, pineapple, lemon and toast. Creamy mouthfeel with bright acidity and a long citrus butter finish.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

You can taste the sunshine in the glass. An inviting deep lemon colour with warm tropical aromas, apple, lemon, dairy, vanilla and toffee. A restrained use of oak as this wine was aged in combination of French oak(just 1/3 new) and Stainless Steel. The palate is rich with just the right amount of toasted oak characteristics. Refreshing acidity and lingering creamy finish. Yummy! Serve chilled. Perfect for seafood.
Tasted: March 2015
