Natalie's Score: 87/100

A smooth, medium-bodied wine with attractive plum and berry notes. This red wine is a blend of Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes, each of which contribute different flavours and complexity to the wine: Dolcetto offers ripe fruit, Barbera brings balancing acidity for food and Nebbiolo imparts tannin for structure. Enjoy with a prime rib.

Dolcetto Barbera Nebbiolo food pairings: gourmet sausages, meat-based pasta dishes, barbecued chicken, rare roast beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy BAA, WSET Adv, Somm rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lovely Monday night wine from Piedmont presenting ample fruit, ripe tannins (in lower quantities than typical for Docetto based wines). Nose gives us glimmers of Barolo from the Nebbiolo percentage. Medium weight with great length.
Lovely notes of incense, woodsmoke, dark cherry, violets, crushed berries, fig and a hint of tobacco leaf on the nose. Dark fruits dominate on the palate. Elegant and structured with the tannins to reward a further 5+ years in the cellar. A superb dinner wine, this impressive blend of Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba and Langhe Nebbiolo will be stellar with rare roast beef. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, Oct. 2013

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
