From the Marlborough wine region, Astrolabe Wines, Province 2017 Pinot Noir is rich with earthy florals, dark cherry, plum, cedar brush and baking spice flavours finishing on a flinty mineral note. Nicely balanced fruit to food-friendly acidity. Tannins are firm and chewy. Decant for one or two hours prior to pouring with lamb chops from the grill, or try in 2022.

Pinot Noir food pairings: roast leg of lamb, roast pork with corn niblets and red bell pepper, roast crackling duck.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
