Lots of mocha and dark chocolate on the nose from oak aging, and it's woven nicely into the dark fruit aromas and flavours. Robust and supple. Very satisfying. Powerful and concentrated with some smoke, vanilla and dark fruit on the finish. Decant for 1-2 hours.

Montepulciano D'abruzzo food pairings: coffee-rubbed steak, chicken, grilled meats, quiche, eggplant, lamb, pasta bolognese, spiced sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Generous notions of black cherry, black olive, plum and new leather introduce a seductively smooth wine brimming with dense, ripe dark fruit. There's a nice tangy lift on the finish, making the mouth water for the next sip. Simply lovely. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, Oct. 2013

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
