Full-bodied, with black fruit: Savoury, juicy, firm grip that's satisfying. Decant 2 hours and enjoy with a rare steak. Lots of fleshy dark plums on the finish.

Reviews and Ratings

Carola Price rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Inky purple with a nose of cassis, vanilla, leather, tobacco leaf and black plum. Flavours of black cherry, cassis, cedar and mint with leather at the finish. Medium bodied yet softening. A decent Cali Cabernet for less than $30. Pair with lamb rack, new york steak with garlic herb butter and smoked duck breasts with blueberry sauce. Drink now to 2 years
Douglas McMillan reviewed this wine as follows:

Aromas of blueberry, raspberry, new leather, and smoke meat. Medium bodied with medium, fairly rounded tannins, Juicy cherry and plum on the palate, with a very long cherry finish. A fantastic wine for rime rib.
The Californian winery Frei Brothers Reserve is Certified Sustainable by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance. Vines are planted in cool-climate Alexander Valley region in well-draining gravelly soils ideal for Cabernet. Full-bodied and smooth with fresh blackberry fruit, mocha, savoury spice and a long mineral finish. Good acidity, body and rounded tannins on this Cabernet Sauvignon. - Community Wine Reviews
