The 2001 vintage of the southern French sweet wine from Rivesaltes Ambré features aromas of caramel and rich toffee. It's layered, complex and mouth-filling. Pair with crème brûlée.

Reviews and Ratings

Gwen Barton rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lovely tawny coloured wine invites you to intense aromas of raisin, dark honey and fruit cake. Beautiful, gentle sweetness and marachino cherries. Lovely for sipping or with nuts or wash rind cheese. Super!
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is full flavoured, nutty, fortified wine from southern France. 18% ABV Amber coloured with very Sherry-like aromas: caramel, butterscotch, raisin, salted toasted hazelnuts and creme brulee. The sweet rich flavours echo the bouquet. Soft, sweet, buttery and rounded. Very unique and original with balanced flavours. A great pairing for delicate desserts, ice cream, vanilla cream and chocolate mousse. 90 points. Tasted January 2018
This French dessert is made mostly from Macabeu grapes, and about 10% Grenache grapes. The wine was matured for 13 years in old foudres, large oak casks that don't impart of a lot of oak flavour to the wine. - Community Wine Reviews
