Smoky campfire and mocha from generous aging in oak barrels. This red wine delivers attractive aromas of blackberries, liquorice, black and purple plum notes and toasty oak. Full-bodied supple, smooth, smoky and juicy. Great for potluck gatherings and movie night.

Shiraz food pairings: Mexican-style venison sausage and roasted root vegetables, stuffed rolled flank steak, boar stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lots of dark fruit on the nose and the palate, well integrated tannins, lingering black pepper finish.
South Australia Zonte's Footstep Lake Doctor Shiraz (2014) has been made since 2003. The 2014 red wine blend is 95% Shiraz with a 5% Viognier lift. The Lake Doctor Vineyard is on the shores of Lake Alexandrina where, each summer afternoon, the ‘Lake Doctor’ breezes arrive cooling off vine and grape. Layers of blackberries, liquorice, black plum and smoky toasty oak are on this full-bodied, juicy wine. Great with game stews now, but can easily cellar for the next 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
