Reviews and Ratings

Jason Seifert rated this wine as 100/100
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

An absolutely wonderful VQA Riesling from the Niagara Escarpment! It is pale lemon green in colour, medium bodied, closing in on medium sweetness. Intense nose featuring sweet lime, lemon curd , a light floral, some orange and a mineral and waxy note. Very soft in the mouth with a slight spritz, zesty sweet lime, with that lemon curd, waxiness, minerality, and still the orange hint. Brilliant paired with lobster tail skewers and lemon butter; sweetness of lobster complemented the sweetness of the wine and the wines zestiness kept it fresh; proverbial squeeze of lemon. This wine stood up very well to a salad of fresh seasonal greens and crunchy sprouts dressed with garlic oil vinaigrette (Farm Boy). A lovely meal at any time. This wine is one that you can get great pleasure from drinking on its own!
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Pale straw in colour with aromas of minerality, pear, lychee and lemon. It is light, crisp and clean with medium acidity. It is off-dry with flavours of pear and lemon. with a medium pear/sweet finish. This will pair well with spicy or Asian dishes. Tasted on March 2, 2020 at Taste Ontario in Ottawa.
Kendra & Matthew Elliott rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine has great acidity. It is fresh, crisp, great minerality with lemon, lime + green apple notes. This riesling pairs nicely with seafood linguini.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium bodied Riesling that is tart but in a balanced type of way. Aromas of Granny Smith apple, pineapple, delicate almond, mineral notes, and beeswax. Flavours of green apple, peach, clementine, and little bit of residual sugar. It has a great mouthfeel and the mineral notes seep through. Pair with spicy thai.

Tasted at the Taste Ontario event in Ottawa March 2020
From the Niagara Escarpment wine region, Vineland Estates' Elevation St. Urban Vineyard (2016) is a bright, mouth-watering Riesling from a great vintage. Look for zesty lime, ripe stone fruit, mineral and flinty flavours on this off-dry Riesling. Pair with fresh halibut in a beurre blanc sauce. In 1987, Hermann Weiss brought German Riesling clones from the Mosel to the Niagara Escarpment and dubbed it the St. Urban Vineyard (Named for Weingut St. Urbans-Hof). The vines are now 40 years of age. St. Urban is one of the most important Riesling vineyards in Ontario and "Elevation" is one tier down from their Reserve Riesling. Pair with veal schnitzel. - Community Wine Reviews
