Reviews and Ratings
|Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:|
Made from a blend of Xinomavro, Krassato, and Stavroto and aged a minimum of twelve months in oak barrels, this Greek wine has aromas of black cherry and plum with cinnamon, leather, sweet tobacco, cedar, floral notes, dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and black pepper.
Tart cherry and plum flavours follow through on the palate along with cinnamon, smoke and a cocoa finish. It is medium-bodied with velvety tannins and vibrant acidity.
Tasted February 2019.
WINE-FOOD PAIRING: This would pair well with pork chops, spicy sausage, or with meat lasagna.
|Tsantali Reserve 2014 is a rustic and tannic red blend of Xinomavro, Krassato and Stavroto hand-picked in the vineyards of Rapsani (which sits at 600 metres above sea level) and aged for 12 months in French oak. Rapsani is one of the four PDO regions in Greece featuring Xinomavro (Naoussa, Amyndeon, Goumenissa and Rapsani). It is the most southern one. In order for a wine to be acknowledged as a Rapsani PDO wine, there is a number of strict guidelines defined by the Royal Decree of 1971 and the Presidential Decrees that followed including authorized grape varieties, yields and winemaking practices. Look for spicy berry, plum fruit and vanilla flavours on the palate. Pair with mature cheeses. - Community Wine Reviews|
