This winery is located on the Beamsville Bench in the Niagara region, thus its name. The vineyards slope down toward Lake Ontario and the soils are dry and deep. Mocha rich with black plums on the nose and palate of this full-bodied Niagara red wine blend. Good balancing acidity for a hearty meat sauce with tomatoes.

Food pairings: roast leg of lamb, veal marsala, vegetarian pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A very dark, purple hued, food-friendly wine with aromas of blackberries and dark berries, cedar, cocoa, black tea and a touch of dried eucalyptus leaves. It has dark berry, cocoa and espresso flavours with medium tannins that are well incorporated into the wine, with a slight bitter finish and flavours that linger on the palate.

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Another treasure from the Niagara region! The Thirty Bench Vineyard, located in the Beamsville Bench, offers delicious critically acclaimed wine. During my last visit, I purchased the Winemaker’s Red Blend 2015, made of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Cabernet Franc (the same Cab Franc that won a platinum medal in the 2018 Decanter World Wine Awards) and 3% Merlot. Showing dense aromas of red berries, strawberry, raspberry, rose, fresh herbs, coffee, crush coconut and oak, the structured and balanced Winemaker’s Blend offers a medium body and a long finish. Ripe blackcurrant, dark skin plum, fern, bay leaf, dark chocolate and oak will please from the very first sip. Savor with steak or on its own. Enjoy!
Thirty Bench Winemaker's Blend (2015) from the Niagara Escarpment wine region is mocha and black plums on the nose. The wine is a rich blend of 75% Cabernet Franc with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in support. Emma Garner took home Winemaker of the Year honours at the 2015 Ontario Wine Award. Enjoy it now and for the next five years. Pair with tourtière. - Community Wine Reviews
