Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A yummy Niagara Cabernet Sauvignon. Full bodied, balanced, medium plus acidity, fine medium tannins. Ripe blackberry, tobacco leaf, mocha, savoury. Pairs well with a seared steak. Tasted 2015 Sandy Block in August 2018. 90 points
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This lovely Niagara Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on sandy soils. Aromas of bright red and black fruit including currants and blackberry, as well as rustic smoky and spicy notes like dried sage. Full bodied and smooth, with smooth tannins and more fruit and dried herbs on the palate. A nice lengthy finish, enjoy this wine with prime rib.
The Strewn Home Farm vineyard comprises two distinct soil types – clay and sandy. The sandy soil allows for more aromatic wines with greater elegance on the palate. Produced from fruit harvested 23rd November, 2015 at 24.8 Bx. After fermentation in small stainless steel bins with malo-lactic fermentation, the wines were pressed then aged in French, American and Canadian oak barrels for a period of 19 months. 4 barrels for specially selected for blending with bottling was undertaken after pad filtration. Silver Medal 2018 International Wine & Spirit Competition, Commended 2018 International Wine Challenge.
