This is one of three wines made from the same lot of Chardonnay grapes that were then split into three parcels and vinified in three different types of oak, this one being 100% French oak. At 14.8% ABV, this is a heavy-hitter in terms of weight and depth of flavour however, it has less tropical fruit than the American oak version and more orchard fruit such as golden and red apples. French oak imparts notes of vanilla and smoke. Pair with roast chicken or veal.

Golden straw coloured, ripe apple, vanilla bean. Declared 14.8% ABV yet medium alcohol on the palate. Medium plus body, medium acidity. Paired well with a mixed shellfish stir fry over rice. Tasted 2016 vintage in August 2018. 89 points

This is a heavy hitter from Niagara-on-the-Lake! Coming in at almost 15% abv this wine will need a food pairing with some weight to match. Salmon with a cream sauce immediately came to mind! Aromas of green apple, spice and vanilla. Creamy on the mouth with buttery, oaky flavours. Medium body with a long oaky finish. Tasted August 9, 2018.
