Lots of mocha and dark chocolate from oak aging on the nose and palate of this robust Niagara Cabernet. Vines are planted in clay and sand soils. Aromas of black fruit, leather, spice and smoke. Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Big ripe raspberry fruit on the nose and palate with slight bitterness of fresh blackberry. Great with a steak. Tasted 2015 vintage decanted 2h in August 2018. 89 points
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A perfect steak night wine! Grown in clay soils, this lively Cabernet Sauvignon shows aromas of black fruit, currants, leather, spice and smoke, with a warm slightly caramel undertone. Full bodied, medium acidity, a beautiful blend of fruit, leather and smoke, and a long finish. Enjoy after decanting an hour or 2.
Produced from fruit harvested 23rd November, 2015 from the clay portion of the Line 1 Strewn Home Farm vineyards, at 25.3 Bx. The wine was fermented in small stainless steel bins with malo-lactic fermentation, then pressed and aged in a combination of French, American and Canadian oak barrels for a period of 19 months. Four barrels were selected and blended. Clay Block is musculart, weighty and fruit driven. Silver Medal 2018 International Wine & Spirit Competition, Bronze Medal 2018 International Wine Challenge, Bronze Medal Decanter World Wine Awards
