Solicantus Melodie Du Sol 2020 is produced from grapes sourced from high-elevation vineyards from the rolling hills of Blaye in the Côtes De Bordeaux wine region. “Soli” meaning soil and "Cantus” meaning melody in Latin, true to its name, the wine is in perfect harmony. Dry, full-bodied and concentrated on the palate with ripe dark fruits, herbal and spicy flavours, the wine is composed of mostly Merlot (90%) with Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec in support sourced from vines over 35 years of age. The wine was aged 18 months in French oak barriques.

Food pairings: roast beef, roast chicken, rack of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This fragrant red wine was crafted from grapes grown on vines with an average age of 35 years. It is made with mainly Merlot (90%) with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The nose gives soft notes of ripe red and black fruit with subtle spice and cedar. The palate shows bright fruit flavours, spice, herbaceous hints and supple tannins with a very silky mouthfeel and a rich, lingering finish. This wine was sustainably produced, and the vineyard is also converting to official organic designation. You can cellar this wine for 10 to 20 years, with it peaking around 20 years. Solicantus Rouge pairs well with rack of lamb, roast pork or roast.
