Carmenere traveled to Chile from France before the grape was devastated there by phylloxera. Chile's desert and mountains prevented the root louse from getting to Chile. Sweet juicy fleshy ripe purple and black plums and blueberry jam on the nose and palate. Full-bodied and velvet smooth. Luscious layers and lots of concentrated fruit flavours. Pair with grilled pork chops or lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Deep dark inky red with cascading aromas featuring cooked strawberries, blueberry pie filling, red bell peppers and a touch of soft vanilla bean and cocoa powder. Flavours reveal: red plums, dates and dark chocolate covered blackberries with a spicy heat lingering at the end well into the lengthy finish. Other spices are evident here too, black pepper and smoked paprika. High acidity, medium plus tannins that are soft along the edges meet with a full round body. Incredibly well balanced and flavourful! Pair with beef ribs and cured meats. 89 points - April 2018

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
