Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Wine grapes for River Stone's 2016 Cabernet Franc were sourced from the winery's south-facing River Rock Vineyards. I love the spicy, crushed ripe cherry and blueberry aromas on the nose. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium-bodied, smooth and silky with more dark berry, ripe cherry and light dusty herb flavours all wrapped up in oak spice. Finishes with good acidity for food. Grapes were hand-harvested and left whole, uncrushed and cold soaked up to five days to maximize fresh fruit flavours, then fermented in stainless steel tank with cap plunging up to three times per day to maximize skin contact with wine juice. The 2016 vintage was aged in French oak barrels for 14 months (33% new). Great now and for the next three to five years. Pair with a roast of veal or pheasant. This vintage was awarded Gold in the July 2018 All Canadian Wine Competition.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Delish! Aromas of black cherry, blueberry, violets, black pepper, and some oaky spice. Medium+ body on the palate, with some young tannins, and bright, balancing acidity. Flavoirs on the palate include ripe, jammy berry, more black pepper and a hint of smoke. Enjoy with grilled pork or a roasted leg of lamb.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
