A complex and balanced Californian red with classic aromas fleshy dark fruit and spices. Wonderfully structured: perfect for dinner parties involving steak. This robust wine is a blend of Zinfandel, Carignan, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Mataro (aka Mourvèdre). The 2014 vintage of Ridge's Three Valleys is richly concentrated and complex. Polished tannins with a judicious use of oak. Pair with grilled meats.

Food pairings: zesty ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings, spaghetti, lamb shank.

Reviews and Ratings

John Sallinen rated this wine as 97/100
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Deep, dark and enticing colour, fabulous aromas of chocolate, mint, blackberry, tar and spice and velvety-plush, rich fruit and savouriness on the palate but not gooey or unctuous in any way. How do they decide that adding 4% Grenache is just the trick? And 65% Zinfandel is the zenith? Anyhoo, ours is not to question, but to drink - with ribs or pulled pork or if you have the willpower, tuck a couple away for 2-3 years.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Ridge Vineyards believes in minimal intervention. I believe this wine speaks that in volumes. Hand picked, fermented on the native yeasts followed by a full malolactic on the natural-occurring bacteria and minimum sulphur - need I say more!

This blend of 65% Zinfandel, 17% Petite Sirah, 14% Carignane, 4% Grenache came from various Sonoma vineyards that each lend itself to the final result.

I tasted the wine blind and was immediately impressed. If this is their entry level at $44.95 I think I need to taste some of their higher end wines.

The summer of 2014 was warm and dry in Sonoma which resulted in a rich supple wine with aromas of blackberry and plums. Sweet milk chocolate and touch of cinnamon is layered underneath. Medium to full bodied with soft tannins. Hefty alcohol at 14.5% so sip it slowly!

This is a drink now wine with perhaps a few more years. Tasted October 24, 2017
Three Valleys (2014) is a robust win blend of Zinfandel, Carignan, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Mataro (aka Mourvèdre). Lots of sweet strawberry, spice and florals on this ready-to-drink-now wine. - Community Wine Reviews
