Lots of tannins and a big hairy grip on the palate: decant this huge red wine for 2 hours. Tar, black fruit and oak dominate.

Food pairings: grilled radicchio, zucchini frittata, barbecued duck, veggie mushroom burger.

Reviews and Ratings

Donna Hargrove rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Is a full bodied red with lots of smoke on the palate. A smooth finish with caramel notes. Pairs very well with Smoked Balderson cheese. Would pair very well with spicy sausage, tomato sauces and red meats.
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Full bodied and flavour. Smoky and woody. Firm tannins and lots of pepper on the medium finish. Having Balderson Cheddar with it and they seem to be made for one another
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby with big fruit aromas of plum and cherry, and lots of smoke. Great juicy acidity, with the flavours from the aroma carrying through. Great tannins that gice it lots of structure. I'm pairing this with a beef stew.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A bold and full bodied wine, blending Tinto Roriz, Touriga Nacional, and Touriga Franca. I tried this after it had been opened for a few hours and it had mellowed a bit, but still packs a punch. Smokey and spicy on the nose, Dark red berry, oak, and lots of firm tannin on the palate. Definitely a steak wine.
From wine producers, Sophia Bergqvist & Jorge Moreira this robust read has lots of tannins and a big hairy grip on the palate: decant this huge red wine for 2 hours. Tar, black fruit and oak dominate. Needs big meat. - Community Wine Reviews
