Quails' Gate 2019 Pinot Noir, is satiny smooth and elegant with balanced acidity, fragrant with crushed raspberry, dark cherry, lavender, sage, vanilla and smoky aromas on the nose. Perfectly poised, concentrated and powerful with dark cherry, fine herbs, anise, nutmeg and ginger spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are velvety. Enjoy on its own or pour with a rack of lamb.

Pinot Noir food pairings: herb crusted chicken, roasted lamb, savoury slow cooked game.

Reviews and Ratings

Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Quails' Gate Pinot Noir is a consistently excellent wine. I tasted the 2012 vintage, and seven years later it's still such a pleaser. Recalling my words "elegant and sexy" still hold up.
Aromas of cherries, vanilla, baking spices and rhubarb swirl in the glass, carrying through to a zippy curry finish. Beautifully balanced structure, and a perfect expression of this British Columbia gem of a grape.
Tasted Oct 2021.
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A truly exceptional Pinot Noir from Quails Gate; the growing season was perfect for producing a rich flavoured Pinot Noir with wonderful acidity. The flavour was enhanced by a pre fermentation cold soak on the skins to enhance extra flavour colour. It was fermented separately on the skins and then matured in 100% French Burgundian oak barrels for 9 months. A medium ruby coloured wine, medium bodied, with great acidity, dry, and a pronounced aroma featuring so much; forest floor, concentrated cherry, strawberry and raspberry, lavender and possibly cocoa. Flavours repeated on the palate. Wonderful with Beemster goat cheese, and goat brie and truffle cheddar.
This was part of a private group tasting of 6 wines Dec 10, 2021 with a small group of 6. A wonderful tasting with a nice range of cheeses and meats to try with all. All of these wines truly deserved a very good rating.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lovely!! This Pinot Noir is rustic and earthy, with aromas of red cherry, cranberry, dark earth, green moss, leather, and smoke. Fruit on the palate is ripe and fresh with a hint of tartness, with notes of dried herbs and a smoky, leather and cedar tinged finish. Medium bodied with mouthwatering acidity, and some light tannins. Enjoy with grilled pork tenderloin or cedar planked salmon.
