Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Time has been kind to this Rioja for the most part. The fruit has receded to the background leaving a silky, smooth and still well- structured pour. Fine tannins on the long finish. It is a lovely, straightforward, approachable pour at this point. Serve with pan con tomate or other tapas. Tasted August 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Puelles Reserva 2009, from the Bodegas Puelles, shows aromas of sour cherry, sugarplum, dried rose, mustard seed, parmesan cheese, tobacco and cedar. Made from the king grape of Rioja, the one and only Tempranillo, this Spaniard reveals a full body with a long fruity finish. The tannins are soft and well integrated. The palate opens up into flavors of dried blueberry, cherry, dried leaf, wet gravel, wood burner and cedar. Enjoy.
Puelles 2009 Reserva is a plushy red blend of mostly Tempranillo sourced from the Rioja wine region. Look for dried fruit, sweet dried tobacco leaf and leathery flavours on this mature red. Enjoy now and for the next three years. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and aged 24 months in 50% French and American oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
