Reviews and Ratings

Anna rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Very funky syrah! A nose of blackberry, smoked meat, earth, tart cherry and a touch of barnyard give way to pepper, dark chocolate and black fruit on the palate. Smooth, well integrated tannins and a long, peppery finish make this an excellent choice for charcuterie, smoked duck and chargrilled meats and veggies.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Very pretty and sophisticated Syrah from the expertise of winemaker Derek Barnett. 2017 started off as a cool spring but then thankfully led into a scorching August and a long warm fall allowing the grapes to fully ripen when harvested the second week of November. Vinified for 23 days on skins, fermented in tank and aged for 10 months in French oak.

Sweet, juicy plum, cherry, and raspberry with herbal notes of sage, rosemary, and white pepper. This wine has enough structure to age for another 10 years. Make sure you decant this wine! It starts off a tad funky when opened but that burns off. Pair with roasted or grilled meats.
Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lovely Syrah from Meldville Wines located in Beamsville. A nice dark purple colour in the glass, I got aromas and flavours of liquorice with a delicious smoky finish. I paired it with a meat lover pizza. Nice mysterious label. VQA wine. Can also be purchased directly on the winery's website: http://www.meldvillewines.com/2017-syrah.html
Craig Haynes WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

From an award winning producer, this syrah features appealing aromas led by raspberry, strawberry and earth. Ruby in colour and medium bodied, this wine delivers an array of desirable red fruit and black cherry flavours. Bring this one home to serve at an upcoming backyard BBQ dinner.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
