Masi Costasera Riserva 2018 Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico is a rich and vibrant red wine blend of 70% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, 10% Oseleta and 5% Molinara. Warming at 15.5% abv., the wine is liqueur like with liquid dark cherry, mocha, savoury herb and spicy flavours rich on the palate. Tannins are drying and this beautiful Amarone needs a bit of time to unwind. Drinkable now, but will show its best from 2030 through to 2038. In 1353, Pietro Alighieri, son of Florentine poet Dante Alighieri, who wrote The Inferno among other great works, purchased the land that’s still at the heart of this winery. The family have tended these vineyards for 20 generations.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico food pairings: leg of lamb, pasta with tomato sauce, venison, beef daube, polenta dishes.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
